A message from the Pastor Search Committee:

In October of 2016, the members of Cross Roads Baptist Church entrusted this Pastor Search Committee with the task of seeking out God’s will for our next Pastor. We began this work with a shared confidence that God had already ordained a man to serve as our next Pastor—a man who would provide sound Biblical teaching while leading the church to reach the growing number of lost and unchurched families in our community. We are thankful that God has led us to be in agreement with one another at each step in this process. After months of research, guidance from wise counsel, and prayerful consideration, we wholeheartedly believe that God has made His choice clear.

John has a calling on his life to pastor and preach the gospel. We affirm his commitment to preaching the truth of God’s word with conviction and compassion. His eighteen years of ministry experience give testimony to how God uses John and his family in building up the local church, mentoring and encouraging believers, and faithfully sharing the gospel.

Thank you for your diligent prayers and unwavering support over the past sixteen months. The Lord has been gracious and faithful throughout this process as we have sought His heart for the future of Cross Roads. The Pastor Search Committee unanimously believes our search has led us to John Nelson whose gifts, passions, and ministry experience put him in a unique position to lead our church in incredible ways in the years ahead.

By His grace,

A Message from John:John Nelson.jpg

Hello Cross Roads Baptist Church,

I was born and raised in Nashville by loving, Christian parents. God used them, and a wonderful church family, to show me God’s love and my need for a Savior. I trusted in Jesus as my Savior when I was seven, and grew in my faith through my childhood and teenage years.

During my first semester of college, God called me into the ministry, and I was licensed by my home church in 2000. After I graduated from college, I earned a Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Over the past 18 years, God has continually provided me with opportunities to serve His Kingdom. I love people. I love the church. I love preaching, teaching, and counseling. The desire of my heart in pastoring is to use the gifts God has given me to serve the Lord and His church, to bring glory to Him, to edify believers, and to take the gospel to the lost.

My wife, Amber, our two daughters, and I are excited to meet you. We have been praying for you all, and we know that even though you may not have known our names, Cross Roads Baptist Church has been praying for us too.
